Exhibitions

Opening the doors to a new gallery for the first time is always an exciting experience, but curating, organising and running your own show will come with many challenges, particularly logistical and contractual. The BHC has encountered most of these challenges, and we are here to help you overcome any you face to make the experience of running your own pop-up or permanent gallery a highly enjoyable one.

As far as our own shows are concerned, if your work is of the required quality the BHC is always interested in hearing from you. Our next group exhibition is being held in May, 2023 in central London. For this, we charge a simple up-front flat fee which is dependent on square footage costs at the venue, with the artist taking 100% of the sale proceeds.

Below are six examples of BHC gallery openings.

Organising and curating the show

The Baker Howard Contemporary has organised and curated many shows throughout the world over the last couple of decades. We are proud to have helped and supported dozens of artists with their careers and professional development, and we will continue to do so.

Using our experience and contacts, we can source the perfect location and venue for you, and can help you with any contract negotiation, as required. There are many logistical challenges to overcome, but with a little skill, knowledge, and a reasonable budget, it is possible to achieve anything.

Before the gallery or pop-up is open, it is crucial that you have your communication and promotional strategy in place. We can help you draw this up and develop it with you.

The internal curation of the displays is most important. Solo shows are relatively straightforward, but strategically placing artworks in a joint exhibition that reflects the nature, theme and context of the show, and its particular location is rather more complicated. We look forward to discussing your own show with you.

Visitors to the show

Once a show or exhibition is up and running it is important to fill your booth or gallery with interested and engaged art lovers. The BHC can help you design a well-curated and enjoyable show that will pull the punters in. We will help with your guest lists and promotion to ensure that visitors' experience is a pleasurable and profitable one for both parties.

Social events

Social events, starting with the crucial opening night, are always occasions to celebrate. They should, of course, be highly enjoyable for all those who visit your show. But it is also very important to consider those opening-night sales opportunities too.

Working with you, the BHC will make sure your vernissage is well attended with the right 'quality' of visitors to maximise those opportunities.

We can also draw up with you a sales strategy for the entirety of the show that flows naturally from the opening night.
